I've only just recently become interested in vaping, but I have a bit of a problem. I've never so much as touched a cigarette (or anything else that requires smoking), so I find it quite easy to distrust things like vape units and e-cigs with my chemical-virgin of a mouth. My first question is: How do I start? What all do I need? I'm quite confident that I want a box mod as opposed to a vape pen, but that's as far as I've gotten with planning my first build. Explanations as to what each part of the unit does would be greatly appreciated! My second question is: What are the health drawbacks, if any? I realize this venue may be a bit biased on this front, but honest answers are much more persuasive. Because I've never smoked cigarettes before I don't really need the nicotine. Does that remove the brunt of the health concerns? Thanks in advance!
Chase, you can vape 0mg nicotine eJuice in whichever device you decide to use. Vaping is healthier than smoking, as eJuice does not contain all the other chemicals found in cigarettes. So basically you would be getting Propylene Glycol (found in products such as Aveeno, Arm & Hammer and Nivea), Vegetable Glycerin (increases moisture in baked goods, sugar substitute and as a thick gel used in gel capsule pills) and Flavoring (flavor extract oil *not used for cooking) There is an article eCigs less toxic than air? that you might also be interested in. As far as equipment is concerned, there are as many answers as there are questions. Simple answer: a box mod, a tank (atomizer), batteries (cells) and a battery charger. Most box mod units today use 18650 cells. There are many brands and knock-offs out there. Visit your local vape shop or vape lounge, check out some of the devices and ask at lot of questions. Get what you want, not what they are trying to sell you! I hope this information helps.
Kangertech (link to KangerTech US) does make some great products and the Subox Mini starter kit is a good unit, but everyone is different. There are as many opinions about 'everything' as there are vapers.
I feel I need to come back to this thread/post as I do not believe that I answered it completely. I believe my original answers are correct as far as the information is concerned, but I did not make a specific point that I believe is important. If you do not smoke, "have never so much as touched a cigarette" and distrust putting chemicals into your body.....DO NOT START VAPING! As far as vaping gear is concerned, time and technology advance, the "best gear" changes, as does everything else in life and there will always be a better answer. I am sure people will add to this thread as gear changes.
