I am too old to be messing around with New Year's parties and the 'drunk checks' that I would have to go through to get home. If I do go out for a New Year's celebration (it has 3 years since I have and no plans for this year)) it will be to go out into the middle of no where in the desert, build a fire and enjoy a small party with friends. Coming home the next day is much easier than zero dark thirty in the morning.
Great point there. I'll probably spend my time trying to make money rather than spending it all on drinks. The rest of the year will still be available for that, and likely much safer!
I like @Jeff 's idea for celebrating New Year round a fire. I'll have to remember that for another year. My family and I popped out to see some friends and then stayed up at home to let it in, with maybe a couple of bottles of wine. No hang over to speak of though (hopefully that's a reflection of how little I had to drink rather than an increase in my tolerance to alcohol)! Loads of people seemed to be going away to celebrate this year, which again is something I wouldn't mind doing another year. As for resolutions, the standing one is not to make any more New Year resolutions! But I wouldn't mind shifting the 4lbs I put on over Christmas, and I MUST write more!
Similar to you @Just Me, saw some friends and then came home (cheaper) and got crazy wasted! Think I did a bottle of rum (and possibly a bit). When I went to bed I spun out a bit Much MUCH quieter January on the cards
